Laser Prototypes, the longest established Rapid Prototyping bureau in the UK and Ireland have announced the recent expansion of their Selective Laser Sintering facilities with the addition of the EOS Formiga P100.

The EOS Formiga P100 machine boasts short lead times and high fidelity models. Perfect for the production of smaller more complex geometries, the fine laser focus of the Formiga P100 ensures maximum surface quality with a wall thickness of as little as 0.4mm. With 23 of this machines own parts laser sintered, the suitability of this system for low volume production and rapid manufacture is obvious, particularly for the medical industry and for high value consumer goods.

When speaking on the decision to expand the firms range of Selective Laser Sintering machines, Sales Director, Campbell Evans stated “2011 was a year of record growth at Laser Prototypes, we noticed a significant increase in the number of Selective Laser Sintering parts for rapid manufacturing. To keep pace with this growing demand we knew we would have to expand the Selective Laser Sintering workshop, having researched a number of options we opted for the Formiga P100. We have recently completed a number of test builds and feedback on part quality has been very positive.

The introduction of the Formiga P100 marks the first in a series of Selective Laser Sintering developments planned for Laser Prototypes. We can now offer high quality low volume production runs in nylon and in a range of new materials which we will be introducing this year – watch this space”.
