LPE are excited to announce that we have been shortlisted for the TCT 2018 Awards in the Creative Application Award Category.

The TCT awards will be held on the evening of the second day of the TCT show. The TCT show is one of the world’s leading design-to-manufacturing events and its awards are designed to celebrate the innovators, technologies and collaborators behind the leading examples of additive manufacturing, 3D printing, design and engineering across the globe.

LPE are delighted that our recent collaborative project with the Natural History Museum, in which we replicated skulls of the Museum’s much loved Diplodocus (nicknamed Dippy), has been nominated for the awards.

As part of this project five of the eight skulls produced by LPE are being used by the Real World Science partner institutions for education and interactive displays. One skull has remained in London for research and study. The final two skulls are on tour with Dippy to seven other venues in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland and are expected to be seen by millions of people over the next few years. This project is another amazing example of the creative way in which additive manufacturing technology can be used in today’s modern world. The team at LPE are very proud of the fact that the innovative application of our technologies means that people all over the UK will be able to learn about “Dippy” up close and personal and we are pleased that the creativity of this project has been recognised by the TCT awards panel.

We wish all the other finalists the best of luck for the awards and look forward to celebrating with the very best in the 3D printing and additive manufacturing industry at the awards night on 26th September 2018.

Anyone who would like to see the Dippy skull for themselves should come along to our stand at Q36 at the NEC from the 26th to the 28th of September where, we will not only be showcasing our latest technologies but we will also have a Dippy skull on display!
