Working with local college to improve Investment Casting services

LPE works with The Belfast Metropolitan College, to establish a production method specifically designed to improve casting quality and surface finish on master patterns for Investment Casting.

Participating in the FUSE project LPE aims at improving their master pattern service for Foundries, through the establishment of a proven production method that improves both casting quality and surface finish. The project focuses on Selective Laser Sintering and the Prime Cast material.

Current findings from the project has allowed for LPE to establish a best practice build procedure for all PrimeCast builds. The new build procedure has also allowed for moderate improvement in surface finish with ongoing research aimed at further improving surface finish.

Findings from the project have been presented to LPE in report format by Ken Barr, Lecturer in Foundry Practice at Belfast Metropolitan College.
