Meet the Team

Tom is the founder of the company. He is an Aeronautical Engineer who has worked across the globe for some of world’s best known engineering companies designing satellites, helicopters and aeroplanes. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to set up LPE, the first rapid prototyping and 3D Printing company in the UK and Ireland over 30 years ago. Having helped many customers gain benefits from 3D Printed plastic parts over the years he is now immensely proud that LPE has completed the holy grail of 3D Printing and is now able to deliver fully qualified Additive Manufactured Metal production parts to some of the world’s leading Aerospace and Medical companies. When he started the company 30 years ago this was a dream many thought was unachievable but he never stopped believing.

Patrick’s background is as a mechanical engineer with a Masters in polymer science. Since joining the company in 2009, Patrick has been the driving force behind the introduction of new technologies, materials, and services at LPE and he strives to ensure the company remains at the cutting edge of the additive manufacturing industry. He has become an AM technical expert across both polymer and metal AM technologies and materials and has helped grow and mentor our internal production and technical teams. For nearly a decade Patrick has championed challenging large-scale R&D projects which have helped LPE become experts in our field. Patrick is passionate about new innovative technologies and creating quality excellence.

Sophie joined the LPE team in 2014. Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG and previously worked with a number of multinationals in Ireland and Australia, Sophie has brought a wide breadth of experience to the Finance and Operations teams at LPE. She has overall responsibility for all commercial aspects of the company including finances, strategy, IT, estimating, and quality. In addition to taking care of the numbers, Sophie is passionate about continuously developing the company and is committed to ensuring that LPE remains a market leader in the constantly evolving field of additive manufacturing.

Campbell joined LPE straight from Queens University in 1994 and has led the sales and customer relations team at LPE for 25+ years. Maintaining LPE as a “people dealing with people” company and offering a friendly, professional service to customers in all industries has helped build a considerable portfolio of happy, returning customers across the UK and Ireland. Our resident languages expert, Campbell has also helped expand the company into Europe and far reaches of the world!

Simon’s background is in modelmaking. Having graduated from UCA in Rochester, he worked in London in architectural modelmaking and prop making for a number of years. His interests in technology and modelmaking combined when he joined LPE in 2010. He has held a number of engineering roles in the company over the years, gaining an in-depth knowledge of the company’s processes and materials. He is now making full use of that knowledge in his role as Estimating Manager, ensuring that the quotations at LPE benefit from having a technical review which mean that our customers’ projects are quoted using the most suitable materials and processes to meet their requirements.

Alan joined the LPE team in 2007 and is responsible for developing the business in Ireland, Scotland and the North of England. Over the years he has gained a wealth of experience in almost all aspects of 3D printing and he has been instrumental in developing LPE’s growth in the medical device sector. Alan’s technical knowledge and problem solving skills are invaluable to allowing his customers achieve their goals.

Sean is the latest addition to the management team here at LPE.  Following his qualification as a mechanical engineer, Sean has worked in quality assurance for 9 years across the defence, aerospace, and heavy engineering sectors. Since joining the company, he has taken charge of maintaining LPE’s quality accreditations and ensuring compliance across all operations. He is the chief representative to external auditors, and has introduced new systems for internal auditing and quality control processes. With a comprehensive knowledge of AS9100, Sean aims to move LPE toward the Aerospace accreditation.

Michael joined the LPE team in 2023 and brings with him a wealth of experience gained across multiple industrial sectors. He holds a degree in Manufacturing Engineering and a Master’s in Business Administration. Michael is a true advocate of operational excellence and develops processes and teams to provide the very highest levels of customer service. He creates improvement initiatives to deliver enhanced capacity & cost optimisation, ensuring customers attain cost effective solutions for every project. Michael is directly responsible for ensuring that all operational objectives are achieved while driving improvement across the entire organisation.
