LPE have just concluded an 18 month Fusion research project with the Athlone Polymer Institute investigating the use of 3D printed tooling for injection moulding. Wilson McKay, LPE’s applications engineer, led the project whose main aim was to develop the 3D printing technology currently offered by LPE as a viable solution for development tooling.

Managing Director at LPE, Tom Walls, comments, “This latest research project demonstrates LPE’s continued investment in R&D activities and our commitment to staying at the absolute forefront of additive manufacturing technologies. I am delighted that as a result of this project, LPE can now advise our customers on the use of 3D printed mould inserts to run within injection mould tools.”
